Kichuguu Project

Software for 3D Layer Deposition Printers

About the Project

Kichuguu generates tool path information that can be used by 3D layer deposition printers (also known as 3D Printers, Rapid Prototyping Machines) to build objects from CAD models.

About the Name

Kichuguu is Swahili for ‘termite mound’, so chosen as the way termites build their mounds (layer upon layer using raw materials) is similar to the 3D print process.

Sponsorship

Kichuguu is sponsored by the Centre for Bioengineering at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
